Research is where BLS got started. Misti Barnett has spent more than 30 years as a litigation and appellate support attorney. For more than a dozen years, she was Staff Attorney to the late Judge George A. Shahood of Florida’s Fourth District Court of Appeal, helping the appellate court to analyze and resolve legal issues on appeal. After that, Misti worked with AV-rated law firms in Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach where she further honed her research skills across a wide array of legal disciplines – from commercial disputes to civil rights cases, from antitrust matters to personal injury and malpractice.
While many lawyers find legal research to be tedious, BLS approaches research as part of the bedrock upon which truly outstanding legal work is built. Of course, BLS takes pride in helping lawyers to find the most accurate, recent case precedent, but finding the case law that is “on point” is easy. BLS truly shines when it comes to researching cases of first impression, helping to find the law within seemingly distinguishable cases to arm her clients with the most complete understanding of the law.
